Brief Summary

Dr. Zhen Li joined Curtin in 2016. He was awarded both his bachelors (2006) and doctoral degrees (2011) from Nanjing University, and his PhD was entitled 'Petrogenesis of Palaeozoic–Mesozoic Granitoids and Related Rocks in Fujian: Implications for Tectono-Magmatic Evolution and Crust–Mantle Interaction'. Between 07/2011 and 06/2014 he was a Lecturer in Igneous Petrology in China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB), and from 06/2014 until 02/2016 was an Associate Professor in CUPB. Zhen’s research is focused on the geodynamic process in deep-Earth, the evolution of continental crust, and the geological process of sedimentary basins and oil-gas accumulation.

Research Interests

One of Zhen’s research interests is to unravel the tectono-magmatic evolution of Earth. Zhen is adept at using a variety of scientific methods, including geochronology, petrology and geochemistry, and isotope geochemistry, to explore the complex geodynamic process in deep-Earth, focusing on the Asia-Pacific region and Tibet. Zhen’s on-going researches also include the geological process of sedimentary basins and geochronology of oil-gas accumulation. He has got over fix years’ experience working with PetroChina on large petroliferous basins of China, e.g. the Sichuan Basin, Tarim Basin, Hailar Basin, and Yanshan Basin, etc.
