Brief Summary

A.Prof Russo is a structural engineer and architect and currently Director of the Strength testing laboratory at the IUAV University in Venice.

A.Prof Russo is an international expert in the area of the pultruded FRP material and structures, and in the area of structural control health monitoring oh constructions.  He has over 200 publications. Since 2015 he has been a UNESCO Field Expert in the structural restoration of historic constructions.

He is currently Editor of the ‘Shock and Vibration’ Journal and the ‘Material Science and Research’ Journal; besides he is also reviewer of the more important international journal s in the field of structural engineering and composite structures.

His research interests include:

  1. Mechanical performance of construction materials (e.g: concrete, FRP)
  2. Reinforced concrete structural analysis
  3. Structural behaviour of masonry reinforced with FRP
  4. Static and dynamic characterisation of glass fibre reinforced  polymer (GFRP) structures made via pultrusion
  5. Structural health monitoring of new and old structures with non-destructive analysis
  6. Dynamic identification and calibration of numerical models of historic and new buildings subjected to earthquake.
  7. Seismic protection and rehabilitation of historic constructions and monuments.
