Brief Summary

Dr Sten Claessens holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in geodesy from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Curtin University of Technology. Before joining the academic staff as a lecturer in 2008, he worked for two years as a research associate within the Department on an Australian Research Council project on ellipsoidal physical geodesy.
His main areas of research interest are gravity field modelling, geoid determination, coordinate transformations and satellite geodesy. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate units on measurement and adjustment analysis, survey network analysis and design, and precise engineering and deformation analysis.
