Brief Summary

Peter Higgs has a BSW (UNSW) and has worked with marginalised populations in Melbourne, Sydney, Vietnam, Indonesia and China for over 20 years. Peter completed an MA in Asian and International Studies (Victoria University) at and a PhD (Monash University) on risk and ethnic Vietnamese heroin users. His field based research has been focussed on risk and people who inject drugs. He is currently a Curtin Early Career Research Fellow at the National Drug Research Institute in Melbourne working with cohorts of injecting drug users.

These included a social research project investigating social networks of IDUs in Footscray, two peer driven research projects on drug use and hepatitis C in Melbourne and a study on the use of buprenorphine for opiate treatment among ethnic Vietnamese heroin users with the Turning Point Drug & Alcohol Centre in Fitzroy.
