Brief Summary

Jane Matthews is an Associate Professor in Construction Management in the School of the Built Environment at Curtin University. Her qualifications include a PhD in Architecture (Thermal Comfort, University of East London), and a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Science (Cambridge University).  She has a wide range of industry experience, which she gained in the UK working as a product and project manager for a multi-national organization delivering innovative information solutions to construction industry professionals. Jane is a founder member of the UK BIM Academy, where she worked alongside Professor Stephen Lockley to combine industry experience with academic knowledge to create a centre of excellence in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).  Jane has been a recipient of over $3 million from the UK Technology Strategy Board.

Teaching

Jane has a multi-disciplinary background and is committed to expanding the BIM education provision at Curtin University to support collaborative BIM across all Architecture Engineering and Construction professions.  She current leads the “Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Cooperative” enabling students across 5 different disciplines to gain in-demand skills for the future, working on high profile projects mentored by some of the best in the industry, in a collaborative learning environment. Industry partners include Hassell (design), Multiplex (construction), PDC  BIM Evolved (BIM manager) and the Public Transport Authority (client).
