Brief Summary

Jianwei Zi received his PhD from the University of Western Australia for studies on the Late Paleozoic-Triassic tectono-magmatism in the Paleo-Tethys realm, SW China. Prior to this, he studied at Chinese Academy of Sciences Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry, and worked on the Permian mafic dykes and flood basalts associated with the Emeishan large igneous province.

Research Interests

Jianwei’s research experience involves applying theories and methods of petrology, geochemistry, and geochronology to reconstruct evolutionary framework of tectono-magmatic events, and to explore petrogenesis and geodynamic settings of volcanic and intrusive rocks. His current work focuses on in situ high-resolution U-Th-Pb dating of accessory minerals (such as zircon, monazite, xenotime and baddeleyite) and its application in determining age and identity of hydrothermal, metamorphic and magmatic activities and related mineralisation.
