Register for classes

Class registration means to sign up for the activities (tutorials, labs and/or workshops) that are relevant for the units of study you are enrolled in. It is a two step process:

  1. Plan your timetable (optional)
  2. Register for your classes online using eStudent

Note: This process is also walked through in the Register for Classes Demonstration video.

Plan your timetable (optional)

Plan Your Timetable (available in the Unit Outlines channel on the My Studies tab) - is a useful planning tool for use prior to registering for your classes. You can use Plan Your Timetable to:

  • Search and view class information for units at the Bentley or Northam Campus
  • Produce a list of classes for your chosen units
  • Print your planned timetable

Please note: You cannot register for classes using Plan Your Timetable. It is a planning tool only.

Register for classes

  1. To register for classes in eStudent, click on the My Classes tab. A list of units that you are currently enrolled in will be displayed. Select the study period you wish to class register for from the drop-down and click Refresh to display units for different study periods. Each unit will have a registration status beside it:
    • Red cross: You are not yet registered for any activities for that unit (but you may have registered for some).
    • Green tick: You have registered in all activities for that unit. When all units have a green tick, you have finished class registration.
  2. Some classes have only one day/time option. It is best if you register for these classes first:
    • If you enrolled in your units via eStudent: You will have been automatically registered in classes where there is only one day/time option.
    • If a Curtin staff member enrolled you in your units: click Register in all activities with a single class, this will register you in all classes where there is only one day/time option.
  3. If you still have crosses next to units, you still have classes to register for. Click Change or Register and all options for the selected unit will display.
  4. To register for a class, click on it (make sure a green plus symbol appears), then click Save.
  5. Repeat step 4 until all registration statuses display a tick ans "All Classes Registered". It is your responsibility to ensure that you have correctly registered in all classes relevant to your enrolment.
  6. If you wish to change a class you have registered for, you can swap classes.

If you are having difficulties in completing your class registration, please contact your Student Service Office.
